
Grants & Scholarships
Since 1988 there have been many Endowment Gifts made to the Parkersburg High School Foundation resulting in a fund of over $1,000,000.00.
Our Permanent Endowment Fund is maintained by the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. The amount of money generated by the invested funds supports all projects, grants and scholarships selected by the Foundation.
2023 Teacher Grants Announced

Christine Walker requested $1184 for the the purchase of an adaptive couch for the sensory area for autism students.

Steve Reiner requested $5800 to purchase a thermal drone for the drone and robotics classes.

Jama Davis requested $1137 for yoga materials to be used by students in an autistic class.

Elsie Horton requested $1850 to bring a presentation by the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company for students in English 11 to PHS.

Kate Blaker requested $760 to purchase curriculum and middle school math activities bundle to teach/reteach students.

Abby Casto requested $4274 to purchase 30 TI-84 CE Plus graphing calculators, three charging stations, and a storage caddy.

Teffany Armel requested $243 to purchase 35 copies of Romeo and Juliet for students in English 9.

Miranda Wilson accepted the funds of $3451 on behalf of the entire Art Department. The funds will be used to purchase display equipment for artwork.

Jay Lindamood request $319 to purchase kites to be used to determine wind force by students in 9th-grade science.

Daniel Jonas will use the allotment of $1200 to aid in the purchase of pairs of binoculars for the Natural History course and locking tubs to transport reptiles to elementary feeder schools.

Rene’ Fowler will use the funds of $470 to purchase digital curriculum for the inclusion Geometry class.

Abby Taylor and Susan Lynch will use the funds of $1934 to purchase materials for a Mother’s Day sow and grow program.
Scholarships

This Award honors Ella Miller Adair, class of 1914, and was established in 2007 by her late daughter Katherine Adair Roberts. The scholarship is awarded to a promising student in drama and English.

This award was created in 2011 by an agreement between the PHS Foundation and the officers of the Classes of 1943. It is awarded yearly to a top student with financial needs.

This award honors the late 1941 graduate and was created by his wife, Joy L. McLean, a 1956 graduate. The award, established in 2006, is given annually to an outstanding football team member with high qualities of personal character and team leadership.

This award has been awarded since 1929, although the PHS Foundation did not assume responsibility for the award until 2003. The prize is presented to three students with the highest academic average among male and female athletes, two boys and one girl. The lack of sufficient funds has prohibited this award from being granted in recent years.

This fund honors Gene Rector Rouse, class of 1939, and Jack H. Rector, class of 1945. The fund may be used for capital improvements at PHS only.

This scholarship was created in 2010 for students interested in attending a workshop, summer program, or advanced study. Application is made through the Guidance Office. $1000 is allotted yearly for this program and selection is made by the PHS Foundation Board of Directors.
